July 14, 2019.  SONOMA COUNTY BASTILLE DAY BASH / 14 JUILLET FETE!  Let your ‘inner French’ come out and play! — Come celebrate everything French at “Sonoma County’s Bastille Day Bash – 14 Juillet Fête”between Noon and 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 14th.  This multi-generational community celebration in the style ‘à la française’ is FREE to the public, and will be held at Doyle Park in Santa Rosa. This community event is co-produced by the Santa Rosa French-American Charter Schooland the Alliance Française of Santa Rosa.   The afternoon will include lively accordion, jazz and French style musical entertainment from various artists. French games, children’s activities, and sing-alongs of French songs will add to the festivities for the young at heart, no matter what age. Friendly games and face painting will be available to enjoy.   The ‘fête’ (party/celebration) will be a fun and casual picnic atmosphere, with guests encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, shade umbrellas, water, and their own picnic lunch, if desired.  French restaurant vendors such as Bistro 29 will be serving a variety of menu options for purchase, from classic savory galettes and sweet crêpes, to salads. In Paris in 1793, at the height of the French Revolution’s Reign of Terror, mobs are forming, heads are rolling, and Olympe de Gouges is writing a comedy.  When an assassin, a spy, and an infamous former queen knock on Olympe’s door, these badass women must decide their role in the revolution. July 16, 2018.  MOTORDUDE ZYDECO plays CAJUN-ZYDECO at ASHKENAZ.  Winner of everyone’s vote as one of the Bay’s hottest dance bands, MotorDude Zydeco purveys a high-energy hybrid of Cajun and zydeco styles. The group is powered by the hardest-working man in the local Cajun/zydeco scene, multi-instrumentalist Billy Wilson – who plays accordion for MDZ – along with singer/rubboard player Lloyd Meadows, guitarist Ian Lamson, drummer and singer Willy Jordan, and bassist Dennis Calloway.
