French word for a three-dimensional artistic representation of the birth of Jesus. St. Francis of Assisi is credited with popularizing the crèche tradition. While traveling in Italy in 1223, he was inspired by the sight of shepherds in moonlit fields, and beckoned villagers that Christmas Eve to light the sky with their torches, bring their animals, and re-enact the Nativity.
Beginning in Europe, the tradition eventually spread throughout the rest of the world. Each crèche reflects the time and culture of the artist and draws us to Jesus. For it is He — born of Mary, the Son of God, our Savior — who gives cause around the world to rejoice this Christmas season and always.
In many countries, families welcome friends and neighbors into their homes each December to share beloved crèches they have made and collected. Echoing this tradition, we open the doors of our church to invite all to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and answer His call, “Come unto me.”
If you own a unique nativity you would like us to consider for future exhibits, please tell us about it.

If you have instrumental musical talents to share, we’d also love to hear from you.
Perform Music
We invite you to join us in celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. We hope you may be moved, as the prophets of old once were when they pronounced Him:
King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Wonderful, Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace
The light that emanates from Him awakens hope, infuses with love, and softens anxious hearts to peace. This Christmas season, as you consider the Christ child, we pray that you might be more inclined to reach out with compassion to the weak, the sorrowful, and the misunderstood, and lift the loads of those whose burdens are heavy.

In our 30th year, and as the longest-running annual community-driven nativity exhibit, weʼre pleased to bring you over 350 nativities from more than 50 countries and over 100 exhibitors of many faiths. In addition to nativities in artistic settings, the exhibit features a community service project, hands‑on activities, a Childrenʼs Room with crafts and costumes, daily marionette shows, and live holiday music.
