En tant que Français expatriés, depuis longtemps installés, ou tout simplement de passage en Californie, vous vous êtes surement posé une fois cette question : où puis-je pratiquer cette activité avec d’autres membres de la communauté ? C’est précisément pour répondre à ce besoin, que nous avons créé la première école de surf qui vous est entièrement dédiée !
Nous avons choisi pour vous une plage adaptée aux débutants à Half Moon Bay, ville avec laquelle nous avons un accord de licence officiel. Ce nom à la consonance si poétique vous dit quelque chose ? Bien sûr, car nous serons à quelques pas d’un des point break les plus mythiques du monde : The Mavericks. Ne vous laissez pas impressionner par ceux qui disent que l’eau est froide : lorsqu’on vit des expériences aussi uniques que croiser des dauphins, voir des arc-en-ciel dans les voûtes d’embruns que laissent les vagues, lorsqu’on donne toute l’énergie de son corps pour affronter celle de la mer, on n’a vraiment pas le temps de s’en apercevoir… Nous espérons que vous prendrez du plaisir à parcourir ces quelques pages, et surtout que nous aurons la chance de vous voir prochainement dans les vagues !

Jean-Pierre Changeux French neuroscientist known for his research in biology, from the structure and function of proteins to the early development of the nervous system up to cognitive functions.
He is known in the non scientific world for his ideas regarding the connection between mind and physical brain. His book Converstations on Mind, Matter and Mathematics, supports the view of the nervous system as being active rather than reactive and that interaction with the environment, rather than being instructive, results in the selection of preexisting internal representations.

Parisian photographer Bruno Serralongue has developed a distinctive body of work that questions the truth of photographic representation and how images are produced, disseminated, and circulated in contemporary contexts. He pursues traces of media events that marked key moments in regions facing geopolitical changes: global economic and social forums; celebrations of new independent nations such as Kosovo and South Sudan in the aftermaths of civil wars; strikes and labor conflicts. Instead of seeking spectacular images of these events in the voyeuristic and dramatic style of paparazzi, Serralongue chooses to catch angles excluded from the mainstream media’s framings of “reality,” and surmounts considerable difficulties to cover events in his independent manner. Through images such as campfires in the campsite of striking workers at the New Fabris factory in Châtellerault, France, Serralongue symbolizes rage and determination in the face of exploitation and oppression.

The first of our Saturday Family Matinees will show on Saturday February 4th at 2 pm a wonderful animated movie by Johan Sfar: The Rabbi’s Cat.

The second event is an encore musical celebration with our friend James Robinson and his Jazz-Latin-Fusion music Trio, scheduled for Feb 17th.

And finally late March or early April will be an exceptional
evening of classical music with a Quartet led by the virtuoso Flutist Robert Stallman, and accompanied by Isabelle Chapuis, Flute, Veronica Agrona-Dafoe, Harpsichord, Lucinda Breed, Cello. This event will be held at the All Saints Church followed by our bufffet in the Parish Hall.

Au nom des bénévoles, des enseignants et des assistants, de l’équipe dirigeante et du Conseil d’Administration d’Education Française Bay Area, je vous présente nos meilleurs vœux pour l’année 2012.
Depuis deux ans et demi, notre association aide les familles francophones et francophiles de la région dans leur projet de bilinguisme. Chaque jour, cette initiative citoyenne rencontre un soutien croissant. En 2012, nous poursuivons notre quête de consolidation et de professionnalisation. Notre but est de construire une association solide qui continue de fournir des programmes de qualité à un prix abordable à un nombre toujours croissant d’enfants, de la GS de maternelle à la fin du lycée.
Le mois de janvier est marqué par la tradition de la galette des rois, que les francophones mangent avec la famille, les amis, les collègues et encore d’autres amis. Nous vous proposons un kit pour faire votre propre galette –avec une fève de collection- et passer un bon moment à tirer les rois. Les sommes ainsi recueillies sont allouées à notre fonds de secours mutuel qui finance les bourses.
